A Tea-Party Worth Blogging About!
Work in teams of four to six. Each group will create a blog (www.blogger.com ). I will help you set up a group blog. Be sure to add me as an administrator to your blog.
Each member must choose a different character and write a diary entry (using Word) from his or her point of view based on the selections of the novel we read. The diary entry should be written in the first person with references to other characters. Write the diary entry in Word, double spaced and with a word count at the end. It should be about 250 words. Be sure to include your name and your character’s name.
Create a profile in your blog for your character. After your diary has been printed, single space it and then copy and paste it into your blog. You may add pictures to make it more interesting. Publish your post.
Read the posts your teammates wrote and write comments in character. Try to engage in a texting conversation with your teammates.
When you receive the corrected diary entry, go back into your blog to edit it and make corrections, then publish it again.
Continue to write more comments to your teammates.
I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.
For your first social-networking assignment, work in groups of 4 to 8 students. Create your own blog that I will link to this one in the right sidebar.
a. Imagine a specific scene during the action of The Importance of Being Earnest, a specific time prior to the play or a specific time after the action of the play. For example, you might decide on a time ten years after the action of the play when Algernon and Cecily, and Jack and Gwendolen are married and have children, or you may choose the moment between Act II and Act II. Whatever time your group decides, be sure that everyone agrees in general about what has taken place.
b. Each group member must choose a different character and write a diary/blog entry of the agreed-upon time. The entry should be about 200 words.
c. Print your diary page (double-spaced) with your own name, your character’s name, the time and setting of the entry and the name of your group’s blog. Then copy and paste the entry (single-spaced) into your blog.
For the purpose of this assignment, use these dates as a reference:
- Act 1: Wednesday, June 27, 1894
- Act II: (morning) Friday, July 6, 1894
- Act III: (afternoon) Friday, July 6, 1894
Read your classmates posts and leave comments and responses. Feel free to add pictures, recordings and any other appropriate artifacts. If you wish, you may use these sketches with your profile and entries.
